Position :Lead Engineer – Software
Reporting to : MP Group Electrical Systems & Standards Team Leader

In our recent announcement on changes in organizational structure we stated our need to delight our customers in the most efficient and cost effective manner possible, to better perform the key processes and to increase focus on efficiency, moving our organisation towards a more efficient and "lowest total cost" organization.

Reporting to the Electrical Systems and Standards Team Leader the Lead Engineer - Software will be responsible for the design and project management of all software related aspects of the electrical systems and subsystems on all machines across the entire Material Processing platform offering.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

• Evaluate software requirements for new and existing systems
• Develop detailed functional design specifications
• Lead the software design engineers using detailed task breakdown of software requirements in the development of software programs for machine PLCs and HMIs
• Implement a modular approach to software development throughout the design team
• Collaborate with Product Line and Platform teams, Sales, Service and Marketing to ensure the “Voice of the Customer” is integral to the development of design specifications for new products and modifications to existing products
• Identify and implement cost effective design and technology alternatives to resolve field issues, ensuring appropriate maintenance and ongoing improvements to current models.
• Work with the Electrical Systems team leader to ensure consistent application of Group standards in the areas of QFD, FMEA, design-for-manufacture, prototype development and field testing
• Collaborate with the other electrical team members in all areas of electrical design including hardware, system integration, testing and validation as required
• Assist in the training, mentoring and development of engineering talent
• Assist the aftersales teams with technical troubleshooting
• Travel to the Materials Processing sites will be required

Experience & Qualifications:

• Degree educated or equivalent in Electrical Engineering
• You should have a considerable track record in the design and development of software for control and automation systems for mobile machines and / or static plant from concept to commissioning
• You should be proficient in programming, testing and debugging controllers and displays such as IFM, Allen Bradley, Siemens etc using textual and graphical editors such as CoDeSys
• It would be desirable that you should have a track record of successfully operating in a matrix environment, influencing others to drive results.

• Excellent project management skills
• Familiarity with E3 or equivalent, CAD and CAE
• Good English communication skill, both written and spoken;
• Good Presentation and interpersonal skills

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• A strong motivator with excellent communication skills, you will be fully conversant on modern design practices and “Lean” manufacturing techniques.
• Someone who cultivates a team spirit with the respect of others’ ideas and requirements
• You will have a proven record in utilizing people effectively and managing performance against committed deliverables
• Preferred base location is at a Material Processing location
